THINGS TO DO IN SANTA CRUZ

This past weekend was my roommate Ginnie and I’s first road trip together, and what better place to go then, Santa Cruz. The scenery was incredible!
If you need some ideas of places to go & things to do in Santa Cruz then you are reading the perfect post.
Heres a few of the things we did:
When traveling, I always recommend hitting up a local coffee shop or breakfast joint. It is such a great way to start the beginning of your adventures, and it gives you an idea of what the locals are like.
We hit up a coffee shop in downtown called Verve Coffee Roasters
1540 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz, CA
Ginnie & I both ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte with soy milk & an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chunks, pretzels, and caramel. It was amazing! Not only was our breakfast good but they had great customer service; they ended up giving us two free coffees and extra cookies!
When going to different towns, I highly recommend thrift shopping. It is so interesting to see the different clothes in every city, and for a college student, cheap clothes are the way to go! All I recommend you do is go on Yelp and type in keywords like “thrift store” or “vintage store” to find places in the area you are visiting.
The Garden of Eden:
Near UC Santa Cruz, there is an area in the forest with a beautiful creek called The Garden of Eden.

My friends Nick, Brandon, Ginnie, and I headed down the creek, set up towels right by the water, and had a little picnic.
When visiting a new place, I always love to have at least one picnic in a scenic area. This started on my trip to New York, and ever since then it just stuck with me.
Anyway, even though I didn’t have a bathing suit at the Garden of Eden, I had to take a dip in the water. It was so refreshing in such a peaceful area.
Towards the evening, when the sun was about to set, we decided to head to Swanton Berry Farm to pick some fresh strawberries and have some dinner.
25 Swanton Rd. Davenport, CA 95017
They were 4.50/lb and they tasted so fresh and sweet!
Something awesome at this place was that they had an honor system, which meant you put your money in the register yourself without a cashier.
This was one of my favorite things to do because the ocean was right by the farm and the sun was setting at the time we went.
Party in the Forest:
Okay, this one sounds weird, but if you did not know already, UCSC students sometimes throw little parties in the forest by campus. If you have any friends at UCSC I recommend asking them about it. I was lucky enough to have a friend from this school and he ended up taking Ginnie and me to a small party in the forest where we listened to the opening of his friend’s album.
Here is a link to their music:
It was cool to experience hanging out in the forest at night! The people we met were very cool, and it was awesome to party somewhere different than usual.
If you do not know of any Santa Cruz students, most of the time there is a small concert during the weekends in Santa Cruz. I know next time I go up I am going to try to hit up one of the concerts venues.
Overall I had such an amazing time in Santa Cruz, and it was a great first of many for Ginnie and me’s road trip adventures!
